Balaam Calls for Church Support on "Expose the Corrupt" Campaign as Museveni Gifts Vehicle to Bishop Kugonza
Minister Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi joined Anglican Church leaders in Masindi to mark his Cabinet appointment and Bishop Kugonza's first year in office. He presented a Landcruiser gifted by President Museveni to the Bishop and urged the faithful to support the "Expose the Corrupt" campaign.
MASINDI — Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, Minister for Local Government, on [date] presented a brand-new Landcruiser, a gift from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to Rt. Rev. Kugonza, Bishop of Masindi, during a thanksgiving service at St. Matthew's Cathedral.
The service brought together three Anglican Bishops and the Most Rev. Emeritus Archbishop Stanley Ntagali, and doubled as a celebration of the Minister's appointment to Cabinet as well as Bishop Kugonza's first anniversary since his enthronement.
Presenting the vehicle before the gathered faithful, the Minister said the President's gesture reflected appreciation for the Church's role in promoting moral values, unity, and community service, and underscored the growing partnership between faith leaders and government in the fight against corruption.
Ateenyi also called on the faith community to rally behind the "Expose the Corrupt" campaign, endorsed by President Museveni, describing it as part of a shared commitment to accountability, integrity, and service to the people.
He thanked Christians for their turnout and continued support for a values-driven leadership agenda, and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the Church and government in strengthening transparency and improving service delivery across the country.
