The Uganda High Commission in Ottawa is currently hosting a Canadian tourism delegation on a 10-day Familiarisation (FAM) mission aimed at promoting Uganda as a leading travel destination.
On the third day of the programme, the delegation participated in gorilla trekking in Uganda’s protected wilderness areas, where they came face-to-face with mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
The experience highlighted Uganda’s position as a global leader in sustainable wildlife tourism and conservation, showcasing its rich biodiversity and community-based tourism initiatives.
Delegates described the trekking experience as remarkable and deeply engaging, noting its potential to support future storytelling and tourism promotion in Canada.
Following the trek, the delegation also participated in a coffee tasting session accompanied by cultural performances from the Batwa community, offering further insight into Uganda’s cultural heritage.
The FAM mission continues as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen tourism cooperation between Uganda and Canada and promote Uganda’s tourism offerings internationally.
Uganda remains one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations, often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa.”
