Irene Namatovu's Strong Woman Concert draws business and music crowds to Serena
Musician Irene Namatovu held her Strong Woman Concert at Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday, with KCB Bank Uganda sponsoring the event through flme, the bank's banking product aimed at women and women owned businesses.
flme provides financing, mentorship and networking services targeted at women in business. According to the bank, the Strong Woman sponsorship was part of its broader activity under that product line.
KCB Bank Uganda Executive Director Agnes N. Mayanja spoke at the event, saying the bank views women as central to economic growth and that flme was set up to give women access to finance, information and networks. She said the sponsorship also reflected the bank's interest in Uganda's creative sector.
Namatovu said the concert was themed around women who continue to work through difficult circumstances, and that having a bank as a sponsor added a financial dimension to the event's message.
