Starlink enters Uganda's enterprise internet market through Roke, Paratus

Roke Telkom and Paratus Uganda have launched Starlink satellite internet for the enterprise market, giving Ugandan businesses a new option for connectivity in areas where fibre and wireless networks are limited or unavailable.
Paratus Uganda is the authorised Starlink reseller in the country and a subsidiary of Paratus Group, which operates in 16 African countries. Roke Telkom, marking 20 years in Uganda's telecom market this year, is providing local infrastructure, billing and technical support for the service.
The offering uses Starlink's Low Earth Orbit satellite network, which the companies say delivers faster, lower latency connections than traditional satellite internet and can reach locations conventional networks cannot. Target sectors include construction, agriculture, tourism, mining, education, healthcare, NGOs and government agencies, along with businesses operating across multiple sites.
Paratus Uganda country manager Edwin Kyambadde said the service is meant to complement rather than replace existing connectivity, positioning it as an add on for businesses with gaps in coverage rather than a full network overhaul. Roke Telkom CEO Peter Muhumuza said the partnership will also bundle Starlink with the company's existing network integration, cybersecurity and cloud services.
Starlink's residential service has been available to individual consumers in Uganda for some time; this launch extends the offering specifically to enterprise and multi site business customers, an area Roke and Paratus are positioning as their initial focus.
Pricing for the enterprise packages was not disclosed in the announcement, and the companies did not specify how the service compares on cost or speed with existing fibre and wireless providers in the market, such as MTN Uganda, Airtel Uganda or existing fixed wireless operators. Nor did they give a timeline for how many businesses have signed up or where the service is currently available beyond describing it as nationwide.
