Pasuwa’s 4WD dream gets Shs15M boost

Three-time 2WD champion Ibrahim Lubega “Pasuwa” has taken the first step toward owning a four-wheel-drive rally car after supporters raised Shs15m at a fundraiser at Racers Pub in Mukono.
Pasuwa is targeting a Subaru N14, which is estimated to cost about $50,000, with the final bill likely to rise once spare parts and other essential running costs are included.
The car would be a significant step up from his Toyota FX Corolla and would let him compete at a higher level against stronger opposition.
Drivers led by Samuel Bwete pledged support at the launch, and several enthusiasts committed at least Shs1m each.
“I am happy that my brother Pasuwa is looking for a more competitive car. This will add to the fleet of rally machines we have in Mukono. I am fully behind him and I will support his campaign,” said Bwete, one of the drivers who pledged support.
Pasuwa also has his sights set on the African Rally Championship (ARC). Earlier this year he sampled competition outside Uganda in Rwanda, where his performance was affected by the mechanical limitations of his car. He believes a more competitive machine could help him challenge at continental level.
The launch brought together drivers, friends, relatives and well-wishers. Among them was Pasuwa’s father, Hajji Hamdani Lubega, who paid an emotional tribute to his son and the rally fraternity.
“I am proud that, at my age, my son has brought me together with all these friends. Thank you for loving him. I will be happy to see him achieve what his heart desires,” he said.
Pasuwa marks 10 years in competitive motorsport on December 5, 2026, with a fundraising dinner scheduled for Katikati.
He says he will visit supporters in person between now and then.
“We are going to visit our supporters and well-wishers personally. When we knock on your doors, please open them for us. This dream is bigger than me and every contribution will bring us closer to achieving it,” Pasuwa said.
